Solis: technical questions frequently seen by support

Answers based on anonymised patterns from resolved Solis support tickets. Menu paths and exact limits depend on the model and firmware.

What should be checked if Solis is not communicating with the battery?

Confirm that the inverter and battery are compatible, that the correct battery model is selected and that the CAN or RS485 cable uses the specified pinout. Check that the BMS is on, its address, DIP switches or termination, firmware and any alarms. Communication must not be assumed to be valid merely because both devices are powered.

Why can a Solis battery remain at minimum SOC and not charge?

The TOU schedule, self-consumption or reserve mode, charge limits, a grid setpoint, lack of surplus, incorrect metering or a BMS alarm may all have an effect. Compare PV, consumption, grid, battery power and SOC over the same interval before changing parameters.

What should be checked if the backup output did not maintain the loads?

Identify when the grid was lost and check EPS voltage and frequency, the power and peaks of critical loads, reserve SOC, discharge limits, alarms and the transfer scheme. A falling SOC does not by itself confirm that the backup output remained energised.

How is a generator or multiple parallel inverter configuration prepared?

It must be validated for the exact model: master and slave roles, identifiers, communication terminations, associated batteries and BMS, generator input and start logic. Do not copy another unit’s configuration without checking the manual, firmware and final diagram.

What should be done if an alarm appears after a firmware update?

Record the previous and new versions, the exact code and the alarm time. Confirm it in the platform history, check communications and avoid indiscriminate repeat updates or restarts. If it persists, escalate with screenshots and logs so Solis can confirm the next step.

What information does support need to review a Solis meter or zero-export setup?

Provide the inverter and meter models, diagram and wiring photographs, CT position and direction, phases, address and protocol, grid power reading and SolisCloud screenshots. Control depends on the measurement correctly representing the grid connection point.
