How to add a battery to an existing Solis inverter

Options for adding storage while keeping the inverter, including the checks required before choosing the battery and architecture.

Quick answer

If the Solis is hybrid, it can use a DC battery listed as compatible with that exact model; Dyness commonly offers compatible combinations, but model, voltage, BMS and firmware must be checked. If the Solis is non-hybrid or its DC side should remain unchanged, Atmoce can be added on the AC side with any existing inverter.

Frequently asked questions

Can I connect a battery to any Solis inverter?

Not directly on DC. A hybrid Solis must explicitly support the battery, voltage and BMS protocol. AC-coupled storage can be added to a non-hybrid Solis.

Is Dyness compatible with Solis?

Compatible combinations commonly exist, but the exact inverter and battery models, voltage, firmware, BMS protocol and current manufacturer list must be checked.

Can I keep a non-hybrid Solis inverter?

Yes. An AC-coupled Atmoce solution keeps the existing inverter and adds storage without connecting to the Solis DC bus.

Does backup work automatically after adding the battery?

No. Backup requires critical loads, power, peaks, transfer, neutral and earthing, protection and compatible equipment to be defined.
